How to Prepare the Home for a Shoot

Interior Checklist

Deep clean — Vacuum, dust, scrub bathrooms, wipe down all surfaces
Declutter — Remove personal items, family photos, excess furniture
Turn on all lights — Including exterior lights and lamps
Open blinds — Natural light is beautiful. Open fully
Clear counters — Kitchen and bathroom counters should be minimal
Handle pets — Have them stay elsewhere during the shoot, or be ready to manage them

Exterior Checklist

Mow the lawn — Freshly cut grass makes the biggest impact
Hide trash cans — Put garbage bins in garage or behind house
Clean driveway — Sweep or powerwash for curb appeal
Stage the front door — Clean entrance, porch, and walkway
