Minneapolis · Urban Lakes Corridor
Most Twin Cities “drone photographers” can't legally fly over Lake of the Isles or Cedar Lake — both lakes are deep inside MSP's controlled airspace, requiring LAANC clearance on top of Part 107. We do. We fly the urban-lakes corridor weekly.
Why Minneapolis is different
Calling Minneapolis “a market” is the kind of generalization a national photographer makes. The drone work for a Lake of the Isles single-family is nothing like the drone work for a North Loop loft — and the North Loop loft probably doesn't need drone at all.
The honest matrix:
We tell you which listings need drone before we fly. Most photographers sell drone as default; we sell it where it earns its cost.
How we shoot it
Minneapolis sits inside MSP's Class B controlled airspace for most of the urban core. LAANC is mandatory for any flight, and the radius around downtown is restricted enough that we explicitly don't fly over downtown commercial — the airspace + building proximity makes it impractical.
What we do fly:
FAA Part 107 + current LAANC. Drone bag has a printed Part 107 card. We don't guess.
Pricing
Drone added to a photo shoot: $85. Standalone drone session: $129. Cinematic property tour with drone + voiceover: $299. For Lake of the Isles or Kenwood luxury at $1.5M+, Gold + drone + real twilight is the standard kit at $599 + $85 + $129 = $813.
Book Your Minneapolis Shoot →Can you fly drone over Lake of the Isles or Cedar Lake?
Yes, with current LAANC clearance — and that authorization is mandatory because both lakes sit deep inside MSP's controlled airspace. We fly the urban-lakes corridor weekly. Most freelance drone operators don't maintain current LAANC for downtown Minneapolis; we do.
How does drone work differently in Minneapolis vs the suburbs?
Minneapolis drone is more about lake context (Lake of the Isles, Cedar Lake, Lake Calhoun) and architectural framing of the urban-lake transition than about lot reveal. The downtown core (North Loop, Mill District) almost never benefits from drone — the architecture is interior-driven. We tell agents which Minneapolis listings need drone and which don't.
How much does drone real estate photography cost in Minneapolis?
Drone added to a photo shoot: $85. Standalone: $129. For Lake of the Isles single-family at $1.5M+, Gold + drone reel ($599 + $85) is the standard kit. Downtown high-rise condo listings rarely warrant drone — Matterport delivers more value for those.
What about flying near downtown towers?
We don't. Minneapolis Downtown's Class B airspace plus building proximity makes drone work over downtown commercial impractical. Cineminn's drone footprint is the residential corridor: Lake of the Isles, Cedar Lake, Linden Hills, Kenwood, Lowry Hill, Northeast residential.
